In coarse grades, the Standard Abrasives Silicon Carbide Cartridge Roll is used for high-speed grinding and deburring on all metals, as well as glass and composites. Its small size and shape enable it to reach into holes and diameters of machined parts or deburr irregular surfaces and contours. Super sharp silicon carbide suits hard-to-grind metals such as titanium, as well as softer surfaces.

Running a Cartridge Roll on a High-Speed Tool The cartridge roll has an arbor hole to accommodate a mandrel tool attachment (sold separately), which attaches to a rotary tool such as a die grinder or drill. The mandrel should have a pilot length no less than 1/2" shorter than the length of the cartridge roll.

Super Sharp Silicon Carbide Leaves a Fine Finish Silicon Carbide is harder and sharper than either aluminum oxide or zirconia alumina. It is most commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint prep and the final stages of whitewood sanding. While it may have a shorter life than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish and should be used when a fine scratch pattern is desired.
