Extra Fine and Indispensable
Few shops can do without abrasives in handy sheet form, and 3M™ Paper Sheet 405U is built to be indispensable. A flexible A-weight paper backing provides excellent conformability and silicon carbide abrasive mineral delivers exceptional finishes.
Silicon carbide abrasive sheets create a smoother finish than aluminum oxide products on most substrates. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish. A resin bond construction provides superior grain retention while the open coat construction, along with the load-resistant coating, combine to provide excellent anti-loading characteristics.
These versatile sanding sheets contain the ideal abrasive grain type and grades for multi-step finishing processes.
Paper Backing for Conformability to Contours
The light A-weight backing provides conformability over contours and into crevices and corners. The sheet can also be easily cut to fit a hand pad block, inline sander, or finishing or power sanders. Other applications include general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, prep prior to staining/painting and scuff sanding between coatings.
Recommended Applications
Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for final finishing in white wood sanding.
It is ideal for general purpose sanding on wood, metal, plastic, dry wall, fiberglass, glass and ceramic materials as well as contour blending.
