3M Microfinishing Film Roll 272L is designed for a variety of common microfinishing applications, from cylindrical and centerless grinding and finishing to roll superfinishing. It’s also a great match for automotive powertrain components, which tend to require a flexible abrasive that can get into hard-to-reach spaces. As a roll, 272L has great flexibility in terms of its form. The roll can be cut and shaped to meet the dimensions of your part or project and may be used by hand or with microfinishing machines.
3M Microfinishing Film Roll 272L features a 5 mil polyester backing. In general, film backed abrasives are known for their flexibility, incompressibility and caliper consistency– it’s what makes them a great match for microfinishing operations. The anti-slip or friction coating on the back of the roll aides in preventing slippage during the microfinishing application, which is critical to consistency from part to part.
