Designed for Precision
Polyimide bonded diamond wheels are designed for high performance grinding on carbide. The 3M™ Diamond Polyimide Wheel 665PL line is specifically designed for the production and sharpening of cutting tools, including end work, gashing and cutting primary and secondary relief edges. Primary relief involves removing material directly behind the cutting edge to enhance chip clearance. For secondary relief, a slight bevel is ground next to the primary relief. End work grinds a small relief angle on the tip of the tool, while gashing adds a slot along the cutting face to allow for chip flow. Each of these processes require the highest level of quality that our 3M™ Diamond Polyimide Wheel 665PL provides.
High Quality Bonding
This superabrasive wheel also uses a polyimide bonding and is specially designed to resist thermal and chemical deterioration, which can occur during high speed grinding. This R-rated bond is very hard and excellent for precision work on softer tool metals like carbide. This also allows for longer run times and longer over-all wheel life. Used in wet grinding applications with high volume flood coolant systems, this bonding material can be used with wither water or oil based lubricants for greater flexibility.
