Garnet Mineral: A Natural at Woodworking
Our Scotch-Brite™ Woodworking Wheel is a convolute wheel built by winding layers of an abrasive-filled web around a circular core. The abrasive material is created by combining fiber strands, resin and garnet mineral. While softer than synthetic minerals, garnet is a good match for woodworking applications, because it produces finer finishes than synthetic minerals.
The Benefits of Open Web Abrasives
The nonwoven technology of our Scotch-Brite™ abrasives makes this wheel unique. Open web allows unwanted swarf to escape, so the mineral does not get clogged with debris and cuts sharper – longer. Load resistance also helps the abrasive cut consistently, part after part. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds well to surface irregularities and contours, so a smooth finish is achieved. The light composition of Scotch-Brite™ web also allows air to flow, keeping the abrasive cooler during sanding.
Suitable for offhand or automatic operations, the Scotch-Brite™ Woodworking Wheel can be shaped to the profile prior to sanding.
